Exploring Circles: Interactive High School Geometry Activities

Statement-1: In two concentric circles, the chord of the larger circle, which touches the smaller circle, is bisected at the point of contact.

Procedure:

  1. Draw two concentric circles on the wooden board.
  2. Draw a chord on the larger circle, ensuring it touches the smaller circle.
  3. Measure and mark the point where the chord is bisected.
  4. Verify that the point of bisection aligns with the point of contact.

Statement-2: Let the angle made by the two tangents to a circle drawn from an external point be ‘a.’ Let the angle made by the line joining the two points where the tangents touch the circle and the radius passing through one of the points be ‘f.’ Verify if ‘a’ equals ‘2f.’

Procedure:

  1. Draw two concentric circles on the wooden board.
  2. Choose an external point and draw two tangents from it to the circles.
  3. Measure and record the angle ‘a’ between the tangents.
  4. Find the angle ‘f’ formed by the radius from the center to one of the points where the tangents touch the circle.
